On January 13, the presentation of the book “The new hunt for the Jew”, edited by Pierluigi Battista, was held at the headquarters of the Luigi Einaudi Foundation. Among the speakers, that of Senator Giulio Terzi, President of the Global Committee for the Rule of Law “Marco Pannella” (GCRL), who stated, among other things, that January 27th, the Day of Remembrance, should be celebrated differently. “None of us have experienced the tragedy of anti-Semitism – Terzi said – a tragedy with a very deep impact on the history of Europe, yet this year January 27th should be celebrated differently. This Day of Remembrance must be a day of struggle in that memory is not enough. Pierluigi Battista’s book is an important tool as it can produce a proactive role on what is happening in the West. It is necessary to take action against the violence of young people in Western universities, against those who smear the synagogue of Bologna, against those who want the destruction of the State of Israel, against a reality made of violence, but also of silence and indifference. Since October 7th, in some countries of the European Union, antisemitism-related incidents have increased by up to 800%. We are confronted with a very dangerous alliance, notably the axis of resistance of Russia, China, Iran and North Korea. Their constant growth in terms of technological and military means undermines our Western values. On closer inspection, we can see how antisemitism is a key element of all the main attacks on the principles of freedom and democracy that are the basis of the international order.”
