The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has decided to discuss a draft resolution on the universal right to know, entitled “Media Freedom, public trust and the people’s right to know”. The debate is expected to take place by the end of 2020.
“For many years, the Global Committee for the Rule of Law and the Siracusa International Institute have been progressing this theme; without the right to know – which is recognized as a second-generation human right – it will be impossible to have a free future in this globalised world”, Ezechia Paolo Reale Esq. stated.
“This is a campaign that should be vigorously reinforced. The forthcoming discussion is brilliant news that will lead to a draft resolution by the Council of Europe. It is a significant advancement and recognition of the validity and importance of all the initiatives carried out in the last few years”, Matteo Angioli said.
